"The Power of a Simple Gift"
This program was started after 1993 and has grown many times over the last 14 years with 1 million boxes given in 1996 and over 7.6 million in 2006. The shoeboxes go to more than 90 countries and are make a difference in a young person's life.
What can you do?
1st and foremost - PRAY for each child that will receive a box and how it can impact their lives; for the ministry partners around the world and how the shoeboxes can be used effectively for evangelism for the individuals; families, churches and groups that will be filling the shoeboxes this year; for everyone (tens of thousands of volunteers) involved in collecting, processing, transporting, and delivering each shoebox for a timely delivery of each shoebox.
2nd - PACK a Shoebox choose a gender and age group: Boy or Girl, ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14, fill with small toys, extra batteries if needed, candy, school supplies, hygiene items, hard candies, *a personal card or note.
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Used or damaged products, war-related items (knives, guns, military figures), chocolates (it melts), liquids or lotions (can ruin other things in the box if leakage occurs), medications or vitamins, breakables or glass, no aerosol cans.
*If you include your name and address the child that receives your shoebox may write back.
3rd - Make your donation - With rising costs of postage and fuel this year the organization is asking for a donation of $7 per box. You may make any size donation and it will go to the cost of shipping that the minimum donation does not cover. It is tax deductible.
Last but not least - DROP- OFF - Deadline for drop off at Heritage Baptist Church is Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
Any questions you may contact the church office at 770-947-0509.
