He Lives... you know!
April 4

Without Easter, we would never have heard of Jesus. So Easter is utterly central. But really what is Easter about? On one level the Easter stories are obvious:

  • God raised Jesus from the dead.
  • It is the most spectacular miracle there’s ever been.
  • It is about God’s promise of an afterlife.
  • It is about God proving that Jesus was his Son.
  • It is about Jesus appearing to his disciples and other. Yet,

Easter is about us…Jesus Lives. Jesus continues to be experienced after his death through a radically new way. For us he is no longer flesh and blood. He is not confined to a time or space, but can enter into any room without door or opening. He is with us even when we are not aware of his presences.

Easter is about God…God has vindicated Jesus. God said “yes” to Jesus and “no” to the evil of those who executed him, that evil does not have the final word. “God will not without us and we cannot without God” (Augustine). God, with great power, did a reversal at Easter through the resurrection. Easter means God’s great clean up of the world has begun. PRAISE GOD!

Easter is about Christianity…about the next world not this one. This world belongs to the rich, wealthy and powerful but the next one belongs to Christianity. Again, God’s great clean up has begun but it can not be done without us (Christians).

Easter is about change…from death to life for Jesus. From hopelessness to HOPE for us in Jesus Christ. Because He lives, We also, by faith, live.

So therefore I ask which journey are you on? Your own journey to satisfy your human desires, OR, a journey with the resurrected, living Christ?

He Lives…and will come again for you and me-if he lives in us by faith.

Together with God,

Dr. Woodrow Hudson
Interim Pastor
