Dear Family,

We’ve all watched over the past few days the impact COVID-19/Coronavirus has had in our country & throughout the world. We will not operate out of fear or buy into unnecessary panic. Jesus Christ does not give us a Spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7).  Our decisions must not be based upon fear. It honors the Lord when we walk in faith, not fear.

However, we are also called to love our neighbor (Mark 10:31) and seek the welfare of the city (Jeremiah 29:7). President Trump and Governor Kemp have urged churches to use caution with large gatherings.  Large gatherings (sports, concerts, etc.) outside of the church have been canceled for the next two weeks.  Schools have been closed during this time as well.

Per the request of Jason Loudermilk, Strategist from the West Metro Baptist Association, I am canceling ALL church activities until further notice. This includes all Sunday & Wednesday activities, Bible Studies, Music Rehearsal, and Pioneers.  The church office will also be closed.  We will maintain critical church business and emergencies through the church office (phones will be transferred when unmanned).  The plan is for all of us to stay safe and not have any non-critical contact.  We know that the spread of this virus is through human contact, and so we can work for the good of our communities-loving our neighbor by helping to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Please know that I have not honored this request flippantly.  I have hesitated multiple times in sending this out. However, I want you to know that we are working to better our community and respect our leadership.

Please take care of yourselves. Look after each other. Please check on our Seniors. Deacons check on your families. If I can be of any service to you or your family, please do not hesitate to call me anytime (770-355-3963).

Regarding our homebound and seniors – if you have any needs please contact me. We will have volunteers who can help you with shopping, errands, etc. If you’d like to be one of those volunteers ministering to our seniors, please send me a text or email (pastor@hbcdg.org).

Stay healthy,

Pastor Gene
